Hathras Case

On December 2016 a heartbreaking event took place, where a student in Delhi was raped and brutally hurt that caused her death. This event fuelled the people to protest against the violence and harassment against the women in India. Seeing the need of change in our law, our jurisdiction did came up with some amendment in the law “crime against women” for the improvement all over the India.

Now 4 year later a same case has taken place not so far from Delhi but near by it, in Uttar pardesh. A 19 year old girl was raped by 4 men and brutally hurt her spinal code that costed her, her life. One thing that I could never understand that  “we can change the laws, we can change the choice of our outfits, we can change our schedule, but how can we change the thoughts of a person???”

That girl from a valmiki caste, was allegedly raped by four men from the Thakur caste on September 14. She was strangled during the brutal rape which resulted in cut off her tongue and damage in the spinal cord. Recently the reports of the postmortem claims that the victim was not been raped as they could not find the sperm samples, if I go by the exact word of the district magistrate Praveen Kumar he said that “ the sample did not have sperm and thus makes it clear that no rape or gang rape took place with the girl”, this statement left me in a shock. First of all they did not tested the victim as soon as possible after the incident and then they claimed this report, well seeing the circumstances here clearly the reports has been tempered and there was a fault of police as they are trying to hide the main facts of the case.

As disturbing as the details of the gang rape case is, I hope the spark of protest among the Uttar pardesh will be equally encouraging. And we will try our best to get the justice for the victim as soon as possible, not like the Nirbhaya case which took at least 4 years to get her justice.

  1. The powerful ones always hamper the initial investigation and find a loop hole to avoid justice..some examples like haidarabad case have become necessary😡
